Discover Big Canoe

When you reserve your Discovery Package visit, you will get to stay in a beautiful mountain home, designed and built by Big Canoe Building Group*. Only one hour from Atlanta, the house is located in our prestigious Wildcat neighborhood, a 700-acre mountain ridge neighborhood with a private preserve and over 12 miles of walking paths and trails. Wildcat is also near the north gate entrance of Big Canoe, and one of the most desirable locations amongst the community.

The Discovery Package was designed to host serious potential home buyers for a 3-day, 2-night stay in Big Canoe. With a custom, private tour of the community, 18-hole round of golf per couple, $50 voucher towards dining at Sconti Clubhouse and much more, it’s an opportunity for visitors to experience just how good life can be as a Big Canoe resident. I was given a tour of the exclusive home that guests get to stay in, by the Building Group’s VP, Matt Barnes, and had a chance to ask a few questions.

Why did you choose this floorplan for the Discovery Package house?
This plan is just enough, not too over the top. It has a very comfortable layout that’s perfect for a both a weekend getaway from Atlanta, or a full-time family home. I wanted guests to have the ability to really feel like they could see themselves living in a home like this, but still see the potential for full customization and upgrades should they decide to build in Big Canoe.
It’s an entertainer’s dream, yet still small enough for an intimate gathering as well. This house offers all of the conveniences and needs of homes that buyers enjoy in suburban metro-Atlanta, but in the unmatched setting of the north Georgia Mountains.

Tell me about the materials you chose?
Natural, but long-lasting elements were used on the exterior, such as cedar, stone, wood beams and a hardy concrete siding. These standard finishes are easy to maintain, and blend in well with the natural surroundings of Big Canoe. The slate backsplash in the kitchen and granite countertops add to the quality, but natural details found throughout. The 5” red oak hardwood floors are highly textured with grains and natural imperfections that bring the outside in. The Interior Designer on my team, Michelle Guest, did a great job of giving this home a rustic, cabin-style feel, without being overdone.

How would you describe the home site this house is on?
This house is on a very private, gently sloping, wooded lot. I took advantage of the seclusion by building a private 2-tiered deck that guests will appreciate. The top level is accessible from the central living space and master bedroom on the main floor, and the bottom tier can be enjoyed off of the terrace level living area. I also included lots of large windows to showcase the natural light and beauty of the outdoors.

Is this house for sale?
Currently, no. As the popularity of the Discovery Package has soared, we need it!
