Appalachia, An American Grill
You might be surprised to learn how many Atlanta residents know about Appalachia; this fine dining restaurant has been a favorite destination for Atlantans for over two decades now. Nestled in the trees just outside Big Canoe’s North Gate, Appalachia is owned by locals Jason and Krissy Fitts, and they have committed themselves to providing excellent food with a friendly atmosphere and lots of personal attention.
The menu changes periodically to allow Appalachia to offer the best of seasonal selections... but you’ll always find Georgia Mountain Trout, a perennial favorite. Another popular menu item is the slow roasted pork. And if you look around, you’ll find regular customers ordering the iceberg lettuce salad with crumbled blue cheese, bacon, and sweet garlic dressing.
On a tight budget? Appalachia offers a “recession special” on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays—several entrées priced at just $9.99.
Hours are Tuesday through Sunday, from 5 PM to 10 PM.
Directions to Appalachia: Just 100 yards south of the Big Canoe North Gate on Steve Tate Highway.
