Big
Canoe is a recreational haven with approximately 30% of our total 8,000
acres preserved as green space. Big Canoe offers over 20 miles of
hiking trails and meadows, which also serves as a sanctuary for over
100 species of birds that have been spotted in the area.
McDaniel Meadows
In McDaniel Meadows, you find yourself surrounded by a colorful kaleidoscope of
native wildflowers in bloom from March until November. This 34-acre park
expands the quality of natural experiences available at Big Canoe by offering a
series of linked wildflower meadows with paved trails for walking, running and
biking. The open meadows support the abundant diversity of plants and animal
wildlife indigenous to our mountain foothills. Wildcat
This unique neighborhood is designed with over 10 miles of trails for hiking,
walking and biking that connect to trout streams and various open meadows
withbenches and picnic areas. Almost five miles of trails are paved biking
trails with grades that range from 5% to 10% to make for a leisurely or more
intensive workout. All homes within Wildcat will have direct access to the
trails and will connect directly to the Wildcat Recreation Area and McDaniel
Meadows.
Disharoon Valley/ Nature Valley
You can hike scenic mountain trails throughout the preserved 700-acre
NatureValley at Big Canoe. Trails wind through the trees, over creeks, around
LakeDisharoon and take you on a wildlife adventure to the Upper and Lower
Waterfalls.
